Description:
Alloy 5183 was originally made to provide the highest strengths in the welded alloy 5083 and other alloys of similar composition. It is a non-heat transferable alloy, with principle elements of Mg, Mn, and Cr. This alloy is typically used in marine and structural applications where exposure to corrosive elements are important. Not recommended for applications of elevated temperature due to it being susceptible to stress corrosion cracking.
